There are two main types of congenital hypertrichosis:ġ. Sometimes the condition appears out of the blue and no one else in the family seems to be affected. It may be that you or her father have excessive body hair. This means that her children would have a one in two chance of having the same condition. This condition appears to be inherited genetically and passed on as an autosomal dominant gene. The fact that she has had excessive hair on her back since birth suggests that she is suffering from a condition called congenital hypertrichosis which basically means being born with too much hair.
